NamastYAY! I’m Maggie

…A feminist
who spends a lot of time barefoot
in the kitchen.

While recovering from the trauma of an abusive childhood, at age 19 the scoliosis and subsequent health problems I struggled with became increasingly debilitating.  I had to halt my college studies and stop performing my beloved music and theatre because I experienced constant pain and could barely move. Instead of getting what was considered required major spinal surgery, I utilized yoga.

Yoga helped me better align my misshapen skeletal structure, relax my muscles, build strength, gain confidence, and settle my anxious mind so I could create a bright life, breaking dysfunctional cycles in health and family.  As I forged my own joyful path from a place of inner wisdom, yogic philosophy became my foundation for everything: cooking, partnering, parenting, homeschooling, making music, creating art, washing my face and body, taking care of my home and environment, and being a caring community member.

The journey that began in 1993 when I started practicing yoga led me to become a certified teacher and to serious study of natural living and mindfulness. I began teaching yoga in 2001 and I continue to formally train in coaching, nutrition, behavior, mindfulness meditation, and functional movement. Ever evolving and keeping an open mind when it comes to fitness, I now personally use multiple methods in addition to yoga to maintain health, strength and mobility. I pride myself on blending traditional foundations and proven innovations with common sense to find creative ways for you to feel well and happy throughout the seasons of your life.

Whether I’m working in the realm of coaching, teaching, or artistry, I intend to support and delight you. I work with all ages and walks of life, but I particularly relate to the plight of a frazzled parent wanting to create a better family life and therefore, world.  I will always meet you right where you are, understanding that your body and life are unique with their own challenges and gifts.

Most of all, I know that within you is all you need to be your own guru and brighten your life.
