This bath salt soak takes just a minute to whip up so read through the ingredients and instructions below, gather your supplies right away, and get to soaking because I want YOU experience all this amazingness.

Seaside Herbal Detox Bath Soak

by Maggie Verderame

To Make:

½ cup Dead Sea Salt Minerals (fine crystals) — this is nice

1 tsp Dried Rosemary

1 tsp Dried Thyme

1-2 pinches Dried Bladderwrack Seaweed (ripped into small pieces) — I like this kind

10 drops Juniper Berry Essential Oil — my favorite juniper eo

Add all ingredients to a stainless steel or glass mixing bowl.  Whisk together (a fork works well to do this), incorporating the herbs and oil into the salt minerals well.

Store in a tight sealing container (like a mason jar) for up to 6 months.

To Bathe:

Pour entire contents directly into a hot bath, allow the sea salt minerals to dissolve fully. Once dissolved, enjoy a soak in your prepared bath for at least 20 minutes.

Alternatively, place the entire contents of this soak mixture into a bath bag/teabag/cheesecloth and hang under the tap as hot water pours out into your bathtub.  Once the tub is full, steep the bag in the water and soak restfully for at least 20 minutes.  You might like to rub your body with the bag of wet herbs like a soap.

I highly recommend making a ritual of your bath time by setting intention before drawing your bath.

Decide what you need most from this bath time — what will nourish you most? Do you need quiet time? Laughter and joy? Time to connect with a loved one? Meditation? A good book or podcast? Try to tune in instead of numb out during this precious time.

And always be sure to hydrate during and after hot soaks. A simple slice of lemon, wedge of orange, or some sliced berries or grapes added to your drinking water takes no time to prepare, increases the health benefits and zhuzhes up plain old water, making it extra fancy for this luxurious bath.

Why These Ingredients?

Dead Sea Salt has been revered through the ages as the best natural skin detoxifier and body replenisher earth provides.  Dead Sea Salt contains 21 minerals including magnesium, calcium, sulfur, bromide, iodine, sodium, zinc, and potassium.  These naturally occurring essential minerals in the human body are often depleted by daily life.  Soaking in Dead Sea Salt helps replace them as well as cleanse and detoxify the body.  The minerals found in the Dead Sea help a number of ailments including sore, stiff muscles (bromide, sodium);  proper functioning of the thyroid and metabolic system (iodine);  dehydration, water retention, cell malnourishment, deregulated nervous system (potassium);  cellular toxicity (sulfur);  weakened bones or teeth, clogged pores (calcium); and, lowered immunity (zinc).

Since so much goodness comes from the sea, it makes sense that seaweed would be a great addition to one’s life.  Bladderwrack seaweed in particular is a hearty detoxify-er!  It is found in inlets around the eastern seaboard of North America as well as The British Isles, Europe and the Baltic Sea.  The iodine in Bladderwrack is great for supporting thyroid and metabolic balance, and the vast maladies this seaweed is used for include cancer and anti-aging because of its high mineral and antioxidant content.  In addition to detoxifying the body as a whole, the antioxidants in Bladderwrack tighten and tone skin elasticity.

The herbs Rosemary, Thyme and Juniper Berry have been vastly used through the ages as detoxifiers as well.  Thyme is high in carvacrol, a strong bacteria fighter.  Ancient Egyptians used thyme for embalming because of it’s antibacterial and antimicrobial capabilities.  Ancient Greeks used it to purify baths while ancient Romans used it to prevent or help heal from poisoning.  Thyme’s anti-fungal properties led to it being used to help heal and protect wounds and incisions as a topical antibiotic would be used today.  Rosemary has been scientifically tested and proven to be effective for cleansing the liver, our largest detoxifying organ.  Juniper berries are highly antioxidant and can flush cells with immune boosting, antiseptic healing goodness.  All three of these herbs are commonly used for cellular detoxification and renewal.

You can relax completely, letting the amazing remedy that is this bath soak do the work of detoxifying for you!

Oooooh! I hope you delight in the wondrous benefits of this bath soak!
